We have a very hard working team of teachers and support staff; they provide a caring and welcoming atmosphere for our students. The academy's GCSE results in 2016 place us in the top 2% of schools nationally.

The academy is expanding and an increase in teaching staff is now required. We therefore require a dynamic Teacher of Geography to join our successful department in September 2017.

You will work closely with the experienced Director of Geography to collaboratively lead and manage the department.

The successful candidate will be provided with support, guidance and opportunities to ensure they progress quickly and prepare themselves for further promotion in the future.

What we are looking for:

  • A qualified teacher to teach across all key stages and who has excellent subject knowledge;
  • A committed practitioner, who will want to attain the highest standards in teaching and learning and who will expect excellence from the students;
  • A collaborative and motivated individual who will help lead the subject through a variety of innovative approaches including curriculum design, teaching strategies, use of technology and intervention programmes.

Why work at Harris Academy Morden?

  • Staff well-being is at the heart of our academy. We have a sensible marking policy, organised marking sessions to give staff time to mark and a two week October half-term holiday
  • A Good Academy with Outstanding Leadership & Management and Behaviour’: Ofsted Dec 2014
  • A disciplined and well-organised place to learn and teach, with our recent Ofsted recognising the fantastic work to date in transforming this academy.  Teaching and learning is at the centre of our drive for improvement
  • Located favourably for public transport with good local access to bus, tram and train links to mainline rail and the underground network
  • Exceptional personal and professional development opportunities across the Harris network
  • Generous Harris benefits and rewards package

In addition to our own programmes, our professional learning is closely aligned with the Federation and we are able to offer a full range of development including Masters and NPQH.

About Harris Academy Morden

School summary

Although Harris Academy Morden opened in September 2012, it builds on more than 20 years of experience within the Harris Federation and an exceptional track record in London education.

At Harris Academy Morden, you will see students who treat each other with care and respect, teachers who are trained and resourced to inspire the best in every class they teach and a highly experienced leadership team with a track record of developing outstanding schools. Everything is in place for Harris Academy Morden to have an outstanding future.

Harris Academy Morden is a modern and innovative Academy. We are a totally inclusive Academy who promote the traditional British and global values of good manners, hard work, excellent behaviour and smart uniform.

We are moving quickly to achieving our goal of ‘Outstanding’ in all categories. To continue our journey to ‘Outstanding’, we are looking for the right people to join our team.

Academy Ethos

The Academy motto is: ‘Courage, Challenge and Success’:

Courage: Students are expected to show resilience and have the determination to persist even when things are difficult. Staff develop this trait over time through high expectations, modelling and our PSHE programme. Students and staff will be encouraged to also ‘do the right thing’ and have the courage to ‘defend the weak’ and ‘speak up’ for what is right and wrong.

Challenge: Students are expected to challenge themselves and have high aspirations. Students must be brave enough to challenge themselves, try new things and embrace the opportunities the Academy will offer during curriculum time and the extensive extra-curricular programme. Students and staff are encouraged to challenge what they know is not true or fair and ‘speak up’.

Success: This is for all students. Success does not come cheaply. Parents and staff must work together with students who demonstrate courage and challenge to ensure that everybody succeeds. We aspire for all of our students to be prepared to succeed in the 21st century, to have the qualifications to open any door and the human conviction to achieve the life that they wish to lead. Students and staff are encouraged to succeed personally but help others to do so as well.
