3rd in English Faculty

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated teacher of English and aspirational leader, from October 2018 or the earliest the opportunity. The right candidate would join our thriving English Faculty, at one of the highest performing schools in Tamworth and North Warwickshire.  This position is ideal for teachers in the early part of their career who aspire to be subject leaders of the future.

We pride ourselves on:   ·

  • Our success and drive in helping all pupils achieve their full potential
  • Attainment results for 2016 were 54.9% 5+ A* - C, 66.4% A* - C in English, 72.3% expected progress in English
  • A positive Progress 8 of +0.09
  • Access to laptops and other ICT equipment
  • A well equipped/resourced faculty
  • Part of the Castle Phoenix Academy Trust.

We are a high performing and popular school with specialist status, located close to the M42 and M6, in easy reach of Birmingham, Staffordshire, South Derbyshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire.

This is an exciting time for the English Faculty at Kingsbury. In order to best prepare our learners for the challenges of the new GCSE specifications in English, we have redeveloped our approaches at Key Stage Three to explore skills through a thematic approach, with our new working documents giving all teachers support in the ‘Big Picture’ approach but encouraging individuality in how topics are tackled for the needs of each group of learners. Additional opportunities are also available within the English Faculty as we continue to look to the future. The school prides itself on offering Extra-Curricular opportunities to learners and the recent school production of ‘Blood Brothers’ is just one example of how the English team embrace this. Our English appointment would be a key figure in expanding the scope of this popular subject within the school, with the Leadership opportunities ever expanding.

The English Faculty would help to support in the development of new ‘Learning and Teaching’ approaches for new members of the department and there would be a number of prospects linked to gaining whole school experience in this area. Literacy is also an area we are moving forward at Kingsbury with new ideas and strategies being implemented to further engage and enthuse our learners. With Accelerated Reader launching in the Spring term of this year, we would like this to continue to grow across the school and this would be an excellent opportunity, for the right candidate, to lead a whole school initiative.   The English Faculty is comprised of a highly motivated and driven group of staff and would welcome any enthusiastic candidates willing to work as part of an aspirational team that aim to challenge and inspire our learners.
