This position will be to support Aboriginal and Islander students from Transition to Year 6 and the focus will be in the three main areas:
- Home and Community Liaison Engagement
- Input into teacher and school resources
- Student Support
The role of the AIEW is to support the education, engagement and retention of Indigenous students by; liaising with and actively engaging parents/carers and the wider family and community to build support and understanding of the education processes, building capacity and knowledge of school staff in Indigenous culture and culturally safe pedagogy as well as contributing to the development of culturally appropriate programs, including the delivery of cultural education program to staff at the school.
Holy Family was established by the Ballarat Sisters of Mercy in 1983. Karama is a suburb of Darwin. There are currently 230 students in the school and nine classes. Rainbows Holy Family Early Learning Centre was opened in May 2003. Our Vision: With family, faith and friendship, we grow, share and live as authors of our own learning.
