Fixed Term until 31st July 2019 

37 hours per week – Term time plus 2 weeks

Salary: Support Staff Scale Point 23 - £19,094 per annum pro rata

John Leggott College requires a dynamic Academic Advocate to deliver outstanding academic support to students within our college. The successful candidate will instill a high culture for learning and promote good study habits and routines for our student body.

The role will entail providing pastoral support to students through the delivery of a tutorial programme, monitoring attendance and behaviour, support students with their academic progress and progression aims. A key focus within the role will be the development of students’ independence and resilience to ensure outstanding student outcomes/positive progression.

In addition to this the successful candidate will support out International Students and will provide English Skills development through the delivery of English Skills based workshops. Furthermore a key part of the role will be to support and prepare international students to progress onto Higher Education.

John Leggott College is the best Sixth Form College in the region for students aged 16-19 offering a wide range of courses including A Levels and BTECs. John Leggott College is a mixed, selective, non-denominational, general further education college situated in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. It is a 16-plus institution based on a single modern campus close to the town centre, with good access to surrounding rural areas. There are around 1,700 learners at the college, between the ages of 16-19, studying a range of academic and vocational courses.

The college was founded in 1958 as John Leggott Grammar School. The sixth form was established in 1968 in the midst of a Scunthorpe education reorganisation.
