Job overview

We’re Co-op Academy Brierley – a brand new special school in Leeds (LS9) and we’re looking to appoint a Business Manager with the strategic vision, drive and commitment to successfully lead and manage key business and academy functions.

Working collaboratively with a variety of academy and central team colleagues as well as external partners, this key role focuses on the leadership and management of finance, premises, admin and health and safety and will be integral to the effective running of operations for the academy at up to three sites. As our first Business Manager at Brierley you will contribute to our success from the outset, securing effective and high quality business functions, systems and processes.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in financial management, ideally possessing relevant qualifications in this field, along with experience of operations/project management and people processes, ideally having worked in one or more schools or Local Authorities.

The post holder must also have excellent communication and wider interpersonal skills; confidently securing buy-in, with the ability to to both lead teams and work as a member of one effectively.

This is an excellent career development opportunity for a commercially minded individual with a strong track record to work in a successful, forward-looking organisation; ensuring that the non-academic functions support high quality teaching, learning and working for all students and colleagues.

Primarily based on-site during term-time, you will be a visible and professional presence at Brierley. In support of a healthy work-life balance, there are increased opportunities to work more flexibly and from home during school holiday/closure periods.

The opening of Co-op Academy Brierley will be delivered by a key team of incredibly talented individuals from across our Trust and partner organisations. It will initially be based in a brand new, purpose-built extension at our Co-op Academy Nightingale site (LS9) from September 2023, before moving to newly built, state of the art premises on Cross Green Lane (LS9). This new facility will provide an outstanding working and learning environment for our colleagues and young people and will sit within a wider site undergoing significant redevelopment by Leeds City Council.

As a colleague at Co-op Academies Trust, you’ll work within a diverse learning community, striving to deliver an outstanding working and learning experience for all. You will be joining a supportive, committed and passionate team who work hard to ensure that everyone in our Trust can achieve their potential. And of course, you’ll do all this whilst capturing the spirit of our vision and values and whilst role-modelling exceptional professional behaviours.
