Solihull Academy is an AP free school, opened in April 2018, and currently expanding with capacity for up to 150 pupils across two sites from 1st September.  We ensure all pupils across the Local Authority have access to a high-quality alternative educational provision.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Business Manager to join our supportive and ambitious leadership team at Solihull Alternative Provision Academy.  You will be leading the business operations of our academy and trust over the next phase of its development (and beyond). The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial operations of the academy including finance and procurement, as well as expansion and estate management. Successful candidates will be committed to the inclusive Solihull Academy vision for our students and our expansion.

In this role, you will have the opportunity:

• To join a passionate and supportive (and growing!) staff team.

• To play a key role in developing the Academy and the trust through its first expansion phase and beyond

• To serve as Chief Financial Officer for an ambitious, growing Trust

• To manage our Finance system and lead on all audits

• To prepare accounts, annual budget, forecasts and Annual Financial Report for Trustees AGM

• To lead and line manage key finance and site staff

• To take responsibility for statutory reporting and filing for ESFA and DFE

This is a unique opportunity to join an expanding Alternative Provision Academy Trust in Solihull.   The Academy leadership team is determined to give our pupils the best opportunities possible to become successful, responsible citizens with the best life chances. This is a critical appointment for us and for Solihull, and is an exciting opportunity for you to develop as a school leader and to work in and further develop an aspirational, therapeutic and innovative environment with pupils who need you.  If you want to play a key role in the expansion of growing AP Academy and trust, be part of a team who believes in “growing your own” for career progression and believe all students have the right to a more positive future, please get in touch!

"Open a school", they said...so we did...

"It’ll be great", they said...And it was, but also the toughest thing professionally any of us have done.

"So many pupils need something different", they said... and they were correct... our students did and do need something different.

Since April 18 we have been on a journey to use the idea of “Alternative” in Alternative Provision as a driver to create a new school for the most vulnerable pupils in the local authority, and the impact and results tell us we are making a real difference.  Prior to our opening our local authority permanently excluded more secondary students than 90% of the rest of the country despite being the wealthiest borough in the West Midlands. So, in a unique partnership between the Local Authority, mainstream school and ourselves, we built a school, provision and curriculum to combat that and ensure the best possible outcomes for highest tariff students in the local authority.  We have developed our school based on 4 specific targets:

-Prevent PEX

-Fewer FTE

-Beat Baseline and/or KS2 targets

-No NEETS

Every decision we make and every action we take is based on these four targets and absolutely child-focused and, from that simple premise, we have created our Academy.  If you are looking for a new challenge and have unconditional positive regard, emotional resilience and utter belief that every child deserves a better future, then maybe we  and, more importantly, our students need you as part of TeamSA.

Solihull Alternative Provision Multi Academy Trust:  Let's go to work!
