Achievement Leader for Science, Second in Department

Following the promotion of our current post holder, the Governors are seeking to appoint a talented, dynamic and inspirational full-time Achievement Leader for science. You will be joinging a strong science department working with the Academic Leader, KS3 Co-ordinator and a team of 6 highly skilled teachers.

Applications are welcome from qualified teachers who are outstanding practitioners.

It is not essential that the candidate has previous experience in a similar role but they must be able to demonstrate recent successful leadership skills. You will be a self-motivated and an enthusiastic team player with drive to secure successful pupil outcomes.

St Bede’s is a successful and over-subscribed mixed, 11-16 school with a long history of academic success. We have an excellent reputation in the community for achievement and pupil behaviour.

St Bede’s Roman Catholic High School is a mixed, non-selective, 11-16, voluntary-aided comprehensive secondary school, situated in the west of Blackburn in Lancashire. The school, which has 985 students on its roll, moved into new and refurbished buildings in 2013.

St Bede’s RC High School works with the Tauheedul Teaching School – Futures Alliance to provide support for other local schools and within the Blackburn area with Darwen Education Improvement Partnership, which is developing school improvement strategies in the area.

“Senior leaders and governors base their work on clear principles which commit the school to value all people and provide the best possible standard of education. The quality of teaching, which is already good, is improving. This is leading to higher levels of achievement over time. The disadvantaged students and other have similar levels of achievement. The curriculum provides excellent opportunities for the most able. Provision for students with disabilities or special educational needs is highly effective.”
