Job overview

Targeted Provision was created to raise the standard of support offered to children and young people with additional educational needs.

We take our child-centred approach and the wellbeing and professional development of our staff very seriously; we understand that without trained and experienced support staff, young people cannot receive the level of in-classroom support they need.

The Role:

  • We require Teaching Assistants committed to improving the education provided to children and/or young people with additional needs. This role is a great opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant to further their career in Education
  • You will be working to support children and young people with varied and complex needs
  • Support will be provided to individuals or small groups
  • Tasks will include preparing learning materials, building positive relationships with the students you support, and assisting with the delivery of lessons and activities

Benefits:

  • We do not use an umbrella company for payouts, meaning fairer pay with no third parties deducting from your salary beyond your tax responsibilities
  • We engage all TAs as Workers, meaning you will be paid via PAYE and our insurance will cover you for the work that you do
  • We offer top quality CPD and teaching resources to all of our staff through our partnership with Skills Builder
  • We support all of our staff via our Specialist Support Team, composed of Headteachers, SENCos, and EWOs. This team offers impartial advice and can be consulted for support at any point during a placement

Requirements:

  • 1+ year(s) experience working with children or young people with additional needs
  • Level 2 safeguarding training (or willingness to undertake)
  • Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this at cost if needed)
  • Two professional references
  • It is a strict requirement that you have the ability to work in a way that promotes the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people

Desirable Experience and skills:

  • Experience working in ARPs, SEND schools or Alternative Provision / PRU settings
  • Confidence using strategies to support young people with SEND
  • Knowledge of alternative communication strategies, including PECS, Makaton, or Eye gaze
  • Effective behaviour management skills and/or qualifications
  • Good written and verbal communication for report writing, maintaining child records and providing feedback to parents/carers regarding progression, behaviour and learning
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills

Employment details:

  • This position involves engaging with us as a Worker, to provide short-term engagements as and when they arise
  • You will work through a contract for service and will be paid via PAYE
  • We do not offer any set amount of work nor expenses coverage
  • Our insurance covers the work you do for us
  • Work will be done during core hours (preferably 5 days per week, full time)

Due to the number of applications we receive, we are unable to respond to every applicant. We aim to respond to all successful applicants within two weeks.

We are keen to hear from candidates from all backgrounds. The over 2 million vulnerable children in the UK are disproportionately constituted of the BAME and LGTBQIA+ communities, as well as by people who identify as working class or have done so in the past, people with disabilities, refugees and migrants, and people living with mental health conditions. It is integral to our mission of raising the standard of support for the UK's vulnerable learners that we engage tutors from all backgrounds so that our tutors can share/relate to the experiences of our students.

Interviews are being scheduled on a rolling basis.
