Additional Support Worker & Access Arrangements Assessor

This is a fixed term post until 12th July 2019 (with the possibility of extension).

At Blackpool Sixth, we want to make sure that our students with special educational needs, disabilities, medical needs or mental health conditions enjoy full support to help them succeed in their studies. If you can provide that support, we can offer you a hugely rewarding role as part of our friendly, dedicated and close-knit team.

We are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to help our vulnerable students to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential. We proudly hold the Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark, awarded in June 2017 and have expertise in mental health, autism and other special educational needs and disabilities.

So what part will you play in all of this? Identifying the individual needs of each student, you’ll work with teachers, other colleagues and outside agencies to put in place effective support strategies and examination access arrangements. You will provide support both in class and out of class to ensure that students enjoy equal access to the curriculum and the broader range of opportunities that make up college life, that they are successful in their studies and that they progress to higher education or employment with training.

We’re genuinely committed to helping our staff build their skills through a range of training and development opportunities. You can also look forward to being part of a progressive and forward-thinking college with a brand new £29 million development, exceptional facilities and an outstanding rating from Ofsted.

Do you have experience of completing diagnostic access arrangements assessments and JCQ paperwork? Do you have experience of supporting young people with learning difficulties and disabilities? Do you have excellent communication skills, a sensitive and patient approach and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team?   If you have answered yes to these questions then click here to apply now and find out more about the college.

Closing date: 9am on 18th September 2018

Assessment day: 25th September 2018

Unfortunately, due to the large numbers of applications we receive, we can only contact you again if you have been selected for interview. Whatever the outcome of your application, thank you very much for the interest shown in working at The Blackpool Sixth Form College.

We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and we are determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of a protected characteristic or is disadvantaged by any conditions or any related individual requirements.

All staff will be carefully selected using recruitment and selection procedures designed to emphasise the college’s commitment to safeguarding. All posts, including volunteers, are subject to enhanced DBS clearance.
