Primary objective:

Manage front office functions, support students and staff, manage all aspects of ICT, provide financial and administrative support to the Business Manager, the Principal and leadership team in a busy and demanding school environment.

Context statement:

Forrest Parade School is located in Bellamack and caters for up to 120 students with special needs. The school offers specialised and individualised programs for students who have been identified as having moderate to severe intellectual and/or multiple disability who are aged from 3 ½ to 12 years.  Staff will have an exciting opportunity to contribute as an integral team member to the ongoing development of the culture, vision and structure of the school and the strong and positive partnerships with families and the community. 

Key duties and responsibilities:

• As the initial point of contact in the school, this position must ensure families, students with disabilities and all other visitors are welcomed with effective communication and support.   

• Manage and resolve ICT issues for in excess of 45 staff and 120 students on varied technology platforms.

• Support the Business Manager in payroll processing, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable (including receipting and banking of monies coming into the school) and preparation and management of purchase orders.

• Undertake data entry and management of school data systems to ensure accurate maintenance of all manual and computerized student records including ensuring the integrity and currency of the database.

• Supporting school events, parent evenings, parent support groups and fundraising opportunities at the school. 

• Oversee the school library and cataloguing system, and provide high level administrative support to the leadership team, including proficient skills in the Microsoft Office suite.

Selection criteria:


1. High level of written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and people with significant needs, with tact and discretion.

2. Demonstrated experience in resolving ICT issues and ensuring compliant and updated technology.

3. Proven capability in processing payroll, finance data entry, management of over the counter income/sales and reconciliation of receipts and banking in an accounting environment.

4. Sound data entry skills with attention to detail, ability to track and manage work deadlines and adjust priorities accordingly.

5. Demonstrated proficient computer literacy skills in particular with the Publisher, Excel and Word, including, experience with the effective use of various databases.

6. The ability to work in a team and maintain integrity and confidentiality.


1. Experience working in a primary school special needs environment.

2. Knowledge of the operations of the Department or ability to learn these in a timely manner.

The successful applicant must have no significant criminal record confirmed by a Police Criminal History check and have, or be in the process of obtaining, a current Working with Children Card and current First Aid Certificate.
