Job overview

Torbay Education Safeguarding Service (TESS) is a unique service supporting schools in Torbay to promote the welfare of their children and young people.  Led by an experienced social worker the service is on hand to offer advice and guidance to schools when there are concerns for the welfare of their pupils.  Established in August 2014 the service works in partnership with Children’s Services to try to ensure that the most proportionate response is devised to keep children safe.   Although the employment contract sits with Mayfield school the position is based within Children’s Services and we work with every school in the Bay whilst providing a dedicated advice and support service to 35 schools currently commissioning the service.

TESS are an integral part of the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) within Children’s Services and provide a daily commitment to liaising with schools to obtain the wishes and feelings of children to inform decision making.

Due to career development we are in a position to recruit an administrative support officer. The role provides a key function for the MASH in addition to providing daily safeguarding information to schools from the police.  We require someone who is meticulous in their administration skills and has a high regard for confidentiality given the personal and sensitive information we are sharing.  The role demands the ability to work on your own initiative and requires excellent Microsoft office skills.   Minute taking skills are also required.   The service is funded until August 2021 with a strong likelihood of future funding assuming we continue to prove valuable to schools and help to support their ability to safeguard children. This is a 40 week contract requiring a commitment to half a day a week during the school holidays.

Full Time Equivalent pay: £19,554 up to £21,166 pro rata – actual starting pay £13,926
