Job overview

The post becomes available from January 2018 and we would look for the successful candidate to begin at the start of January or shortly afterwards. There is a degree of flexibility regarding the contract to ensure we attract the best candidate but we would envisage the Registrar to be a full time position. The role is predominantly term time only, with some additional work required in the holidays. Approximately 37 hours a week. The hours of work will need to incorporate some flexibility to meet the Open Morning and admissions requirements. This will include some evenings as well as some work on Saturday mornings and very occasionally on a Sunday.

Ideally we are looking for an experienced registrar who has a good understanding of the admissions process in a busy prep school. However, we would also be keen to take applications from organised professionals who would be willing to train for the role. Desirable qualities are: a strong customer focus; exceptional organisation and English skills; the ability to work as part of a team and the ability to work well under pressure. Depending on the experience and expertise of the successful candidate, this position could include a role on the Senior Management Team at Sandroyd.

It is also envisaged that the successful candidate will have a good understanding and preferably first-hand experience of the prep school system, either as a child or parent.

Any offer of appointment will be subject to satisfactory references and criminal record check via the Disclose and Barring Service. Letters of application should state what particular skills and attributes you can bring to Sandroyd School, brief details of how you fit the position, including specific details of experience and achievements, and any interests and hobbies. If you would like to discuss this role further with the Headmaster then please contact Sarah Harding via email: office@sandroyd.com to arrange a suitable time.

A completed application form and your letter of application, should be sent as soon as possible to Mrs R Hill, Assistant Bursar at Sandroyd School, Rushmore Park, Tollard Royal, Salisbury, Wiltshire. SP5 5QD or by email to rhill@Sandroyd.com.

The closing date is midday on Friday 1st December.

Interviews will be held at Sandroyd on Wednesday 6th December 2017.

Sandroyd School is a co-educational preparatory school for both day and boarding pupils aged 2-13. It is located in 60 acres of fields, woods, and parkland near the village of Tollard Royal in Wiltshire. The pupil roll is around 230.

Sandroyd Pre-Prep was purpose-built in 2004 in the original walled garden and is home to boys and girls aged 2-7.

Sandroyd School takes its name from Sandroyd House, the home of the Reverend L H Wellesley Wesle, in Cobham, Surrey. In 1888, he created a small coaching establishment for the sons of his friends who were due to go to Eton. Over the years, the school grew rapidly, changing its premises to its current location Rushmore House. The school is a charitable trust and is administered by its board of governors.
