Job overview

We are seeking a motivated and caring Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our Adult and Community Education team. In this role, you will provide essential support in the delivery of Adult and Community courses across Hampshire. We are specifically looking for Learning Support Assistants who are willing and able to work in Havant, Fareham, Gosport, Basingstoke and Andover. You will work closely with tutors to support learners with varying needs, including those with additional learning challenges or disabilities, ensuring they receive the help they need to succeed and grow in a positive learning environment.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping others and making a real difference in the lives of adult learners. If you have experience supporting individuals with a range of needs, including those with learning difficulties or disabilities, this could be the perfect role for you. You’ll be a patient and understanding individual who enjoys working as part of a small, close-knit team.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with learners from all backgrounds. Your role will be to encourage and empower learners, helping them gain confidence, develop independence, and reach their learning goals.

Key qualities we’re looking for:

  • A strong commitment to supporting adult learners and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude, particularly when working with individuals who have additional needs.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with tutors and the wider team to ensure high-quality learning experiences.
  • A proactive approach to assisting in the preparation and delivery of lessons, including setting up resources and adapting materials to meet learners' needs.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and equality, ensuring all learners are treated fairly and with respect.
