Possible extension subject to funding

We are seeking applications for the post of Area Coordinator for Hampshire, West Berkshire and Surrey. This post is funded by a grant to Edgbarrow School from the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP), which in turn is supported by a grant from the Department for Education.

This is a part-time, fixed-term position and is available until 31st July 2024 with the possibility to extend subject to funding agreement. We are looking to have someone in post from 1st January 2023.

The Area coordinator will be expected to coordinate support for students and teachers in state-funded schools/colleges in the AMSP region (Hampshire, West Berkshire and Surrey), in order to improve participation and provision for level 3 mathematics (i.e. AS/A Level Maths, AS/A Level Further Maths and Core Maths qualifications).

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience. They will have a good and current knowledge of mathematics education in UK secondary schools/colleges and an awareness of the local provision in the region. In addition the ability to create and maintain excellent professional relations with others and work as part of a team is important.

This position may involve some events at evenings and occasionally weekends, for which time off in lieu is given. Whilst online support and meetings have increased significantly over the recent period the post will involve regular travel to meetings and events within the region (Hampshire, West Berkshire and Surrey) and occasional travel to national conferences with an overnight stay. It is expected that the candidate will have a working knowledge of how to conduct online meetings and a positive attitude to developing their skills further.

If you would like an informal conversation about the role and what it encompasses then please contact will.warne@amsp.org.uk / helen.gascoigne@edgbarrowschool.co.uk

To apply for this post please complete the online application form via TES.

Closing date: Monday 10 October 2022

Please note that all applications will be considered upon receipt, therefore an early reply is recommended.

Employment is with Corvus Learning Trust and not Bracknell Forest Council. The trust is very popular and for most posts a large number of applications are received - it is thus not possible to notify all applicants of the outcome. Please accept that if you have not heard within three weeks of the closing date then, unfortunately, your application has been unsuccessful - in which case we offer our best wishes for the future.

Edgbarrow School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It is essential that all members of staff and volunteers share this commitment. An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for all posts.
