Alternative Centre for Education Unit (ACE) Supervisor within Internal Exclusion Unit Hours: 35 hours a week, 39 weeks a year (term time only)

Salary Grade: Hay 6, (points 20-27)

Actual Salary: £18963.05 – £22,894.14 

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Supervisor for our Alternative Centre for Education Unit (ACE) which has been set up as an alternative to Fixed Term External Exclusion with immediate start.

Our School:

• Judged by Ofsted as outstanding, The Charter School is a fully inclusive mixed 11–18 comprehensive school adjacent to North Dulwich station and serving a diverse inner-city community 

• 77% of our students achieved A*-C in English and Maths at GCSE last year, and we are in the top 25% of schools in the country for progress at GCSE and in the top 12% for progress at A Level

• In the Jan 2017 Staff Survey 99% of staff said they are proud to work at our school and 95% agreed that the school is well led and managed.

The post holder will be responsible for supervising students internally excluded from mainstream classes as a sanction for poor behaviour. This will involve supporting the learning of students in order to maintain their current grades and levels while they have been referred; using different strategies to help modify student behaviour in order to promote good behaviour for learning when they return to mainstream lessons, and identify and plan an intervention programme to support the repeaters referred to ACE.

 The successful candidate will join our Inclusion Team and report to the Deputy Head Teacher and the Inclusion Manager. You will have the drive and intent to secure school improvement; have a creative and innovative approach and an ability to embrace and promote change; be enthusiastic and determined to support the school in its drive for continuous improvement. This position is offered on a fixed term contract until July 2018.
