About the role

Manage the group of students who have been allocated a place within the academy’s internal Alternative Provision for behaviour on a day to day basis.

Promote and ensure high levels of attendance, positive behaviour and engagement in learning for all students who attend the academy’s internal Alternative Provision to ensure consistent progress is made.

To liaise directly with all members of the inclusion team and report directly to the Executive Head of Inclusion

To attend weekly inclusion meetings and provide reports and updates on AP students.

To work closely with parents/carers and students to improve levels of behaviour and engagement in learning.

To collate information on students and work with inclusion team colleagues to identify improvement strategies that can be implemented.

To work with parents/carers and other agencies in improving their child’s behaviour and engagement by coordinating parental support and intervention where appropriate.

To use the MCAS app effectively in support of improved student attendance, well-being and behaviour.

Who we are looking for

Confident communicator with excellent verbal and written skills

The ability to work directly with a small group of students, motivating them to achieve successful outcomes.

The ability to remain calm and professional with dealing with challenging situations.

Ability to deal with difficult situations appropriately and respond to priority demands promptly

Proficient in the use of IT systems with an aptitude for problem solving

Demonstrates high-attention to detail.

Based in the town of Kirton, in Boston, Lincolnshire, Thomas Middlecott Academy is a secondary mainstream school for girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 16. It was converted into an academy in March 2015. At present, there are approximately 479 students on the roll. The academy opened in 1624 as a Free Grammar School by Sir Thomas Middlecott. The school is a part of the David Ross Education Trust.

Teachers aim to nurture the students and help them develop self-confidence and gain personal development. The curriculum will be enriching and help the students learn about living and working in the 21st Century.

“The recently appointed headteacher has made an impressive start. Expectations for what students can achieve are beginning to rise and there have been improvements in behaviour and attendance. Staff, students and parents feel there have been many positive changes since April 2013. Partnerships with parents are strengthening. Students are cared for well. They feel safe in school and are confident that staff will deal with any problems that may arise. Most teachers show that they have secure subject knowledge and many have good relationships with their students. Where teaching is good, staff target questions at individual students to check the quality of their learning and to keep them fully involved in the lesson.”
