Purpose

To support the College’s apprenticeship targets by providing efficient and effective placement services for Apprenticeships.

To co-ordinate the Apprenticeship vacancy matching process. 

To work with the Work Placement Co-ordinator to provide and to be part of a seamless approach with students that enhances all opportunities around employability skills and employment opportunities. 

To maintain high standards of service to learners and potential learners and to employers who provide apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities. 

Maintain positive working relationship with key stakeholders including schools, Positive Steps, NAS, JCP and the National Careers Service.

Apprenticeships division is evolving and the post-holder must remain responsive to changing demands of the role within the Grade.

Duties 

1. To co-ordinate the Apprenticeship admissions and recruitment process in conjunction with the College Admissions team.

2. To attract new candidates to Apprenticeships and maximize those placed into an Apprenticeship.

3. Responsible for generating Apprenticeship applications, paper based pre-screening, telephone interviewing, arranging and face to face interviews between the Employer and candidates.

4. To work to targets and timescales and provide reports on applications, candidates and successful outcomes.

5. To upload Apprenticeship vacancies to the National Apprenticeship Vacancy Service, the College website and other platforms as directed. To ensure all platforms are updated, monitored and closed out accordingly.

6. To coach and develop those seeking an Apprenticeship and offer advice and guidance on apprenticeships. 

7. To work with Student Support Tutors to co-ordinate the admissions process for study programme students who wish to move into an Apprenticeship.

8. To co-ordinate apprenticeship recruitment events for suitable candidates and invite for interview and assessment.

9. To ensure all Apprenticeship applicants are dealt with to the highest standard within an agreed timeframe.

10. Work closely with the Engagement Team to ensure that:- 

 Employers are kept fully informed of progress of recruitment to their vacancy. 

Interview dates are secured. 

Successful induction of placed apprentice. 

Consultants are informed of the number of candidates available in talent pool and the type / sector of  

vacancies required.

11. Build and maintain an effective relationship with our employers, and internal and external stakeholders.

12. Work with relevant College support services to ensure that the apprenticeship engagement process is fully supported and promoted to students.

13. To ensure that all suitable candidates are put forward for employer interviews. 

14. 10. To shortlist suitable candidates for vacancies and arrange the interviews on behalf of the employer.

15. 11. Provide feedback to candidates following application and interview

16. To support the Work Placement Coordinator in the maintenance of systems that monitor students on placement and to maximise opportunity for those who may wish to seek an apprenticeship following on from work placement opportunities.

17.  Ensure that all systems and databases are up to date and correct.

18. Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required

Hopwood Hall College is a further education college located in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. The college was first established in 1992, and since its founding has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation, including the installation of a brand-new technology centre in 2012 which provides facilities for studying motor vehicle maintenance, engineering and brickwork. Although the college had previously contained its own sixth form centre, since 2010 Hopwood Hall has concentrated solely on vocational qualifications for school leavers, along with its extensive adult-education programmes. The college occupies two main sites, located close by to each other in Greater Manchester, each providing a range of high-quality teaching facilities.

Values and Vision

Hopwood Hall College offers a huge range of subjects from entry-level courses up to foundation degrees, with part-time provision available for adult students looking to pursue their qualifications while working. In terms of younger students, Hopwood Hall begins accepting students at age 14, providing entry-level vocational qualifications and, potentially, apprenticeships for Key Stage 4 pupils looking to study outside of school. We have a purpose-built Salon, Restaurant and Technology Centre as well as extensive Sports and Animal Care facilities. Outside of study, the college also works hard to foster a sense of community among its students, playing host to a range of recreational common areas for students to relax and socialise.

“Leaders and senior managers have re-focused the college’s community learning provision. They have established good links with community groups to engage with learners who have not participated in education and training for some time. These learners benefit from the development of their essential English and mathematical skills, including English for speakers of other languages; they are progressing to further study and/or employment.”
