An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and self-motivated Employment Programme Manager/Programme Coordinator to manage our Apprenticeship Programme in the Bedford & Milton Keynes area. 

Mencap have been helping people with a learning disability to find employment for over 45 years and this role would place you at the heart of our 3 Ships Programme. The 3 Ships Programme is Mencap’s education-based programmes for supporting people with a learning disability to move closer to the job market and gain employment. The 3 Ships are Supported Internships, Traineeships and Apprenticeships.

The successful candidate will lead and manage Tutors and Caseworkers for Apprenticeships, to support delivery of the programme. They will ensure that all the programmes within their portfolio are delivered to the agreed curriculum, frameworks and methodology and ensure they meet internal and external standards for quality and impact. This includes Ofsted and ESFA criteria.


This Programme Manager role is permanent full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Essential skills and requirements for the Programme Manager role, but not limited to:

Experience of delivering to programme contracts

Experience in practitioner area

Managing and Developing staff

Leading and coaching staff

Performance management

Effective record keeping and reporting

Financial management

Working to targets

Handling complexity

A-C/9-4 English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
