Are you a qualified and registered social worker with extensive safeguarding experience who wants to further develop your skills within the field of education?  If so, due to expansion an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the specialist and well-regarded Education Safeguarding Service. 

What we’re looking for...

You will have several years post qualification experience in Child Protection and will be self-motivated and enthusiastic You will enjoy working as part of a service but have the ability and confidence to be accountable for your own decision making. You need to be willing to learn and will be well supported in developing new areas of expertise regarding safeguarding in education.

Acting as an Area Safeguarding Advisor and working closely with school improvement colleagues, headteachers, senior leaders and early years’ providers you will offer support, advice and challenge to education services on all matters relating to safeguarding children.

Alongside statutory aspects of the role which includes the writing of single agency DHR and CSPR reports, there will be other extensive practice development opportunities such as undertaking safeguarding reviews and management investigations in schools.   You will  also be required to prepare and deliver a variety of bespoke and core training courses to school leaders, governors and managers.

As an Area Safeguarding Advisor, you will have the opportunity to use your social work skills, knowledge and experience to support and develop the practice of education professionals, which has a significant impact on the outcomes for children in and around of Kent. You will have a carefully managed workload to ensure you are able to carry out your duties and functions to a high standard ensuring those we support are receiving the very best service possible.

This is an exciting time for the Education Safeguarding Service, and as a result of recent developments and expansion, there will be opportunities for you to build relationships with professionals and services at the forefront of Child Protection and Safeguarding both in and outside of Kent.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

This post is currently home based but work base is Sessions House, Maidstone, Kent.
