The role

Ark Burlington Danes (BDA) seeks a highly competent, well organised and values driven individual to lead our rapidly improving school. You will hold high expectations for all students and share the belief that an excellent education is central to transforming lives, and ensure every student is given the opportunity to succeed. You will be deeply committed to staff development and have a strong track record of improving teachers and leaders in your role to date.

You will also have a deep understanding of how to embed systematic approaches to whole school improvement. Burlington Danes Academy is part of the Ark network of schools, one of the largest and most successful multi-academy trusts in the country. Ark is renowned for its approach to staff development, with high quality training provided at every level for both teaching and non-teaching staff.

Leaders within Ark benefit from being able to draw upon the resources and expertise of the network. They also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other school leaders, and to feed into the development of excellent practice beyond their own school. We are keen to hear from successful school leaders seeking a new challenge.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Believe in Ark’s pillars and values
  • Understand and support BDA’s Christian ethos
  • Have a track record of devising and delivering highly effective education for the students they serve
  • Be committed to working in partnership with governors, parents, the diocese and Ark to deliver strong outcomes for pupils
  • Act with integrity and build effective, trusting relationships with colleagues and students
  • Be network-minded and able to contribute meaningfully to Ark’s strategic development at both regional and network level.

This is a great opportunity to lead a large west London school at a pivotal point in its development.

The successful candidate will have the full support of Ark to ensure Burlington Danes Academy makes a lasting contribution to its community, supporting local children to fulfil their ambitions.

Curriculum

We believe that everyone deserves to be accepted, included and empowered to live a life that is purposeful and fulfilling. Our curriculum is a key driver of this vision and our Christian ethos. We place the curriculum at the heart of school life. It drives all other decisions that we make and is the best means we have of demonstrating as a school what we believe in and what we stand for. Our curriculum is a broad, balanced and equitable offer; built around the core disciplines of English, mathematics, science, humanities, languages and religious education. All subject areas prepare pupils for future study within their discipline, with mastery of core and foundation subjects ensuring pupils have choice later on in their education; as they specialise in key areas of study.  The curriculum in each subject area has been designed backwards from university study, through A-Level, GCSE, and into the Primary and Early Years phase to ensure students can reach their fullest potential.
