SISA CURRICULUM

SISA’s core curriculum has both academic and artistic components, which will lay a solid foundation for students’ future education and career pursuits. Following the A-Levels and BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design requirements, students will be able to create a flexible study module with a focus on the arts whilst meeting the academic requirements for university entrance.

Our goal is to provide the foundation for students to set out for the world as lifelong learners.

We are now recruiting art teachers for the school year 2021-2022.

Job Description:

1. Development Planning: 

a) With colleagues within the department, create a vision for the department, aligned with the school guiding statements, which sets a challenging vision for the Arts to inspire creative excellence, high quality teaching and learning, and the values underpinning this vision.  

b) Work with the (Teacher Support Coordinator) to help ensure that there is time for effective collaborative planning time and CPD opportunities to develop best practice within the department, as per the school Professional Development Policy.

c)    Plan for the effective assessment of all students using different formative and summative strategies and ensure for the effective recording of these assessments as required by the school.

d) Set timelines for the creation of appropriate lesson plans, rubrics, inquiries, exhibitions assessments, mock examinations and other formal assessments and mark schemes.

e) Create within the team a mechanism for evaluating and developing such lesson plans, and best practice within the subject(s) lessons.

f) With subject colleagues analyze students’ performance and write a report summarizing the department’s findings and recommendations to support student learning in the future.

2. Teacher Development 

a) Lead and provide professional development opportunities to support the development of all teachers within the department in relation to, in particular, the A Levels/GCSEs and inquiry.

b) Create a system where teachers can observe each other and provide for effective feedback.  

c) Consider for each member of the department the most appropriate allocation of classes taking into consideration their abilities, interests and career development and the needs of the school. Advise the Head of Academics accordingly.

d) Advise the Head of Academics in the recruitment of new teachers, and take part as necessary, in interview panels and observing new teachers.

e) Research best practice and conduct own active research; 

3. Curriculum 

a) Establish and review schemes of work and monitor their use by members of the department.

b) Establish procedures for assessment and moderation of student achievement including Mock Examinations, setting and the production of coursework as required by syllabus. 

c) Ensure that the department is aware of syllabus modifications including assessment practices.

d) Establish the effective use of assessment rubrics to aid in student learning.

e) Working within the subject staff or with other subjects, consider piloting Creative Curriculum Days and seek ideas from staff and other individuals (including research) to support the enrichment of these days. This is to add and enrich the curriculum in relation to Story-telling Invention, and Creativity.

f) Develop internal procedures for ensuring both students and staff are complying with the Academic Integrity Policy.


Requirement:

1. Proficient level English speaker

2. Bachelor Degree (or higher) in Art related fields, such as Fashion Design, Fine Art, Animation, Graphic design, etc.

3. Proficient in design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD, etc.)

4. Familiar with university portfolio requirements

5. Ideal candidate should demonstrate strong team spirit, solid professional knowledge, as well as great enthusiasm for art education

6. Minimum 5 years of art & design subject teaching experience
