Vision and values
The Roche Approach is based on kindness and respect, as the creative and social development of students thrives in that kind of environment. Teachers aim to foster confidence, compassion, resilience and intelligence. They want to provide an education for children of all abilities and talents.
The curriculum places an emphasis on citizenship, PSHE, art, music and philosophy. The school specialises in problem solving, philosophical enquiry, open questions and self-evaluation. Teachers use a question wall, which offers pupils the opportunity to challenge their thinking. The school organises external competitions with other local schools, such as maths challenges, robotic contests and debating.
The Good Schools Guide
“We simply wish that schools like this, where children hug the headmistress and the more academic move on to starry academic senior schools, had been around when we were young.”
