This post is equally suited to an experienced teacher or an NQT looking for an exciting first position in a supportive school. What matters the most is that you are a talented and innovative practitioner with a passion for Art.

The Art department at Whitefield School aims to encourage and enable our students to remain creative, curious and confident by keeping them connected to the world outside. Our students enjoy a rich and personal learning journey which offers them opportunities to express themselves and explore a broad range of skills and processes which are used in the contemporary art world. Through this process students locate themselves as worthwhile young people whose individual qualities are valued and developed.

The Art department reflects our creative industry and students engage with many contemporary artists and movements which enable them to take the next step whether pursuing Art and Textiles in higher education, as well as preparing them to be professional artists and exhibit their own artworks in galleries.

At KS3 we offer Art and these make up 2 lessons over 2 weeks. Students will then choose a pathway for GCSE which includes Art or Textiles. Students in KS3 develop their understanding of art and learn a variety of skills including: Drawing, painting, photography,  printmaking, sewing, casting, claywork and other 3D processes. Students at KS4 and KS5 build on these skills and  consolidate their art journey  through creating several projects which meet the assessment objectives . Students also receive opportunities to meet visiting artists, go on museum and gallery trips and curate their exhibition.

The successful candidate will have access to continuous professional development through our dedicated internal and external CPD programme. The school also offers various benefits to all employees through our extensive wellbeing programme. Flexible working could be considered
