Job overview

Required for September 2017 or January 2018 – Art Teacher MPR

Manningtree High School is a successful, semi rural secondary school with a strong community feel. The school has an OfSTED rating of ‘Good’ and is oversubscribed for September 2017 entry. We are a mixed, fully comprehensive school serving the local area and work closely with primary and post-16 partners as well as other local secondary schools. The school is set in a pleasant semi rural location only 10 miles from the centre of Colchester and close to the Suffolk border. We currently have around 800 11-16 students on roll.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Teacher of Art. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an imaginative, creative and inspiring teacher to work in a supportive and energetic school. You must be able to demonstrate the talent, interpersonal skills and a range of teaching strategies required to inspire and motivate students. Above all, you must have a passion for your subject and be able to embed challenge and enjoyment in your lessons.

The Art Department at Manningtree consists of a Head of Department and one other full time teacher.

We are currently having a brand new Art block built which will be ready for September 2017. This has 2 purpose built large Art classrooms which are both well equipped and potential for a dark room. We deliver the AQA GCSE.

For more information or to visit the school please contact Carol SInclair

Manningtree High School is a warm and welcoming learning community. We are ambitious for our students and our staff.

The school is situated close to areas of natural beauty on the Essex/Suffolk border. We have a comprehensive intake who travel from a wide area around: we are consistently oversubscribed.

The continuous improvement of teaching and learning is important to us and we want to recruit staff who love their profession and are energised by helping young people gain knowledge and skills. Our students are well behaved and enjoy belonging to MHS. Pastoral care is a real strength.

The school was last inspected in 2018 and our ‘Good’ status was confirmed. We have continued to develop strengths in curriculum delivery, design and assessment since then.

On the 1st September 2019 Manningtree High School became a member of the Alpha Trust, joining the Gilberd School, Colchester County High School for Girls, Home Farm Primary School and the planned Trinity School in that Multi Academy Trust.
