ROLE SUMMARY:

Wetherby School is a thriving and highly successful non-selective, independent school in Notting Hill for boys aged 4 to 8. The school is heavily oversubscribed and extremely successful in securing pupils’ entry into the preparatory school of their choice.

Wetherby School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Art Teacher to join the team from September 2025. In this role, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons that not only teach the fundamentals of art but also inspire a deep appreciation for its richness and diversity. As the subject lead, you will provide clear direction, fostering an environment where creativity thrives and students feel supported in exploring their artistic potential.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver the art curriculum through engaging weekly lessons.
  • Provide enriching art experiences to help children understand fundamental artistic principles.
  • Inspire a love for the richness and diversity of art.
  • Lead the subject with clear vision and achievable goals.
  • Foster a warm, supportive atmosphere that meets students' social and emotional needs.
  • Differentiate lessons to accommodate all ability levels, following the agreed policy and syllabus.
  • Provide pastoral support, ensuring each child reaches their potential and addressing any emotional distress.
  • Assess and monitor student progress using school-approved evaluation methods.
  • Support students with Special Educational Needs and Gifted & Talented requirements, liaising with relevant staff.
  • Create stimulating art displays and contribute to communal displays throughout the school.
  • Incorporate audio/visual and IT resources to enhance learning, including contributions to the school website.
  • Manage the Art budget and oversee ordering of educational resources.

About Our School

Wetherby School is based in Kensington and Chelsea, London. The independent pre-preparatory school admits boys aged 4-8. There are currently around 360 boys enrolled in the school, which occupies a listed townhouse.

It was founded in 1951 and moved to its current location in 1971.
