The Department

The Art department is a well-resourced facility with interlinking studio spaces which support Fine Art practice. A printmaking area dedicated sixth form studio and media suite is equipped with photography equipment and Microsoft Studio Pro computers and contributes to a vibrant learning environment. IGCSE and A Level pupils are encouraged to make aspirational artworks and Key stage 3 projects broadly adhere to the UK national curriculum covering a range of ideas, media and techniques.

Art is a popular subject and class numbers are high relative to the size of the senior school. IGCSE and A Level classes follow the Edexcel specification and results for 2020-21 were 100% 9 – 6 at IGCSE and 100% A* - C at A Level with 47% A*/A.

A wide range of exhibitions, trips and competitions are offered throughout the year. About Wellington College International Tianjin

Wellington College International Tianjin is the first international partner school of the highly prestigious Wellington College in Berkshire, England. The school is a vibrant and popular co-educational school offering a top-class British education for pupils aged 2-18 years. The strength and breadth of the partnership with Wellington College in England are almost unique among British schools.

Besides the royal foundation and shared heritage, Wellington College International Tianjin has teachers with extensive Wellington College UK experience, enjoys pupil and staff exchanges, collaboration between subjects and classes, as well as embedding vital elements of the core values (respect, integrity, courage, responsibility and kindness), shared Wellington identity and commitment to a wellbeing programme. These shared parts of our DNA mean that pupils in Wellington grow into hard-working, resilient young men and women capable of leading full and active roles in their lives and communities. They understand the meaning of service to others and lead their lives rooted in the shared values that helped to shape their childhoods. As even a casual observer at any of our annual year 13 graduation ceremonies can see, the pupils that emerge from the school at 18 years of age are prepared to face the wider world with quiet self-confidence, disarming humility and a steely determination to forge their place in the world.

We have in the past 3 years received the HR Asia's 'Best Companies to Work for in Asia' Award and rank consistently within the top 10 schools in China through the Hurun Report and Kinglead for innovation, teaching and leadership.
