We are looking to appoint a full-time Art Teacher to our provision who is enthusiastic, with a passion for their subjects and a willingness to be flexible and creative.

You will be an excellent classroom practitioner with an interest in, or previous experience in, supporting pupils with special educational needs. You will be a Qualified Teacher of the Vision Impaired or willing to gain this qualification within 3 years of appointment to the post. You will be committed to understanding and mitigating the barriers to learning that a child with a vision impairment needs to overcome to achieve success. You will be flexible, solution focused and willing to work in a close team and learn new skills.

You will be responsible for teaching Entry Level Art at Key Stages 2 and 4 to small groups of pupils with a vision impairment and/or additional needs. You may also have responsibility for a tutor group to which you will teach a range of Foundation subjects.

You will have the opportunity to gain the QTVI Mandatory Qualification through the University of Birmingham whilst working with us, in addition to continued opportunities for professional development in Leadership.

Joseph Clarke School is a special school for children and young people with a vision impairment, some of whom have additional needs. The school is part of Whitefield Academy Trust which also includes; 

• Whitefield Schools –based in Walthamstow which provides specialist education for pupils with complex needs including communication and interaction difficulties.
• Our Professional Development Centre which provides support, training and resources for both school staff and other professionals.  
• Project Search East London – a highly successful route to employment programme
