Art Technician

Notre Dame School are seeking a Part Time Art Technician to start work immediately on a permanent basis. The post would benefit from a Textile Art specialist.

The main purpose of the Art Technician’s role is to support the academic work of the Art & Design Department.

· The Art Technician will co-ordinate the use and maintenance of practical resources facilities

· provide assistance and advice in meeting the practical needs of the Art Curriculum.

· They will also be responsible for ordering books, equipment and materials, while keeping appropriate financial records to ensure expenditure is kept within budget. 


Education/Qualities/Skills

Applicants must hold a recognised qualification in Art & Design (minimum A Level) and have practical knowledge of working with a range of art materials within the last 2 years.

A sound knowledge of Photoshop and current ICT practice in Art & Design.

Candidate actively engaged in her/his own discipline in Art & Design.


Experience 

You do not need to have worked as an Art Technician before it is essential that you have a practical can-do approach, enjoy working as part of a busy team but with the ability to work autonomously. You should have a real interest in Art and Design.


Skills and Abilities 

Part of your responsibility will be mounting and displaying student artwork so any previous experience in this field would be advantageous. Numerical and communication skills are needed for ordering materials, sourcing products and filing invoices.


Personal characteristics: 

· Good interpersonal & organisational skills.

· Physically able to fulfil heavier duties of post.


Term time plus three weeks out of term working (FTE 23.25%)
Salary:  Circa £5,314 per annum (pro rata to £22,857 per annum)

Hours of work: 10 hours per week over 2 days term time plus 3 weeks (23.25%FTE of a full time post)
