Job overview

We require a Technician to join and assist the Art and Design team in maintaining the efficient running of the department.  The role will involve primarily setting up and maintaining equipment and resources with only very limited opportunity to work with students one-to one or in class.  Knowledge of painting, print making and 3D would be an advantage, but is not essential.

This post requires an organised and flexible person, preferably with some previous experience in a similar environment.  The person appointed will have good practical and organisational skills and be able to work as part of a team in a large and busy department.

You will be required to work 21 hours per week during the College term time (38 weeks) for the specific hours shown below:

Monday 8.45 am to 4.15 pm
Tuesday 8.45 am to 11.45 am
Wednesday 8.45 am to 11.45 am
Thursday 8.45 am to 11.45 am
Friday 9.00 am to 4.15 pm

About Sixth Form College Colchester

The Sixth Form College Colchester is a non-denominational, mixed sixth-form college for around 3,200 students aged 16 and older. It was founded in 1987 and is located on the site of a former school. The old building at the college dates back to 1912. 

In 2011, the Sixth Form College Colchester opened a new language centre; a series of new buildings, including a performing arts centre, have been added in recent years. Among its alumni are television presenter Dermot O’Leary and Blur frontman Damon Albarn.
