Job overview

This is an opportunity for a first-rate Art Technician to join a creative and ambitious department within an award winning centre with outstanding facilities.

The Art Technician will provide technical support to all Art and Textiles staff, ensuring that rooms and workshops are set up for lessons, equipment is maintained, and health and safety requirements are met. They will also provide technical support to pupils who are producing exam projects or free time projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the safe maintenance of all machines and equipment in accordance with department schedules
  • Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment at all times
  • Preparing teaching materials required for project and exam work (including paint, drawing materials, canvases and textiles materials)

The role is based in the Leonardo Centre, where we have exceptional teaching spaces, professional-standard studio areas and fully equipped design technology workshops. The resources available include 3D printing, CAD design and laser cutting technology, ceramics and sculpture studios, photography, sound and video engineering studios, a fully equipped fashion and textile studio, and specialist resistant-materials workshops. 

The ideal candidate will require Art studio, Textile’s studio, Photography studio and DT workshop experience, with a willingness to learn new skills and adapt to new situations and demands as they arise.

Uppingham School is a mixed, Church of England independent secondary school with sixth form and boarding, located in Leicestershire. The secondary school, situated in Uppingham has approximately 791 students on record.
