We are looking for a well-qualified, enthusiastic and motivated full-time Artistic Director, who is able to coordinate and manage the delivery of the Expressive Arts programme at Loretto and to carry on the superb work of our outgoing position holder who is retiring in July 2021. The Artistic Director is responsible for coordinating and managing all school productions and performances, with the assistance of other key school staff.

The successful candidate is expected to be able to:

  • Teach an academic subject (0.5 FTE) where suitably qualified.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver all school concerts, plays, exhibitions, Expressive Arts events (internal & external), trips, production of brochures, programmes & publicity material.
  • Prepare an Expressive Arts event calendar.
  • Coordinate repertoire and event planning for music, drama, dance and art.
  • Plan and prepare for LAMDA exams.
  • Coordinate technical preparation for events including all lighting, sound and hires in consultation with the Resident Technician & Estates.
  • Coordinate the maintenance/testing/upgrade programme for specialised technical equipment in school venues.
  • Monitor pupils involved in music, drama, dance and art.
  • Prepare music or drama resources, rehearse and perform as required.
  • Produce and direct major drama and musical theatre productions. We are particularly interested in applications from teachers with experience in directing large school productions, including musicals.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team, share ideas with colleagues and liaise effectively with other school departments.

Here at Loretto, we strive to know and nurture all of our pupils helping them to develop into knowledgeable, capable and confident young adults. All staff are expected to contribute fully to the School’s extensive academic, pastoral, and co-curricular programmes. The academic, pastoral, and co-curricular timetable includes teaching on Saturday mornings along with weekend and evening duties.

This is a full-time permanent post required for an August 2021 Start. Salary will be determined by experience and aptitude for the role. In addition, as recognition of the contribution to the co-curricular programme, a further salary allowance is also paid.
