ASD Lead Teacher

Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge
ASD Lead Teacher
Scale L1 – L12
1 year fixed term contract
Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge has been under the stewardship of the Trinity Multi-Academy Trust since 2018. Working closely with outstanding leaders from across the trust, the Academy is characterised by its high aspirations and ambitions. Targeted and effective support systems have been implemented to create an environment where our students experience an outstanding education with no limits on what they can achieve.
Our GCSE results over the last three years have validated the work we have already undertaken in the academy. We are proud and the results our students have achieved means the academy can now be recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country. However, our aspirations and ambitions are high - we are determined not to rest on our laurels and are always looking for ways to better serve our students.
All of these fantastic and exciting initiatives require the expertise and commitment of dedicated staff and Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge now wishes to appoint a Leader of our ASD provision.
Our vision, over the next three years, is to become a hub of excellence for ASD provision in a secondary setting.
The provision, referred to as ‘the base’, is a transition between primary and secondary for ASD students who require an extra tier of support. This role not only leads the provision in the base but works closely with the Academy’s SENCO to ensure that, when students leave the base, the classroom provision across the schools meets the needs of ASD leaners such that they successfully transition to a mainstream setting.
Experience and knowledge of ASD would, of course, be an advantage however we’re looking for a strong leader who can ensure our ASD learners get the best experience across school.
What can we offer you?
- An opportunity to be involved in the continued transformation of Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge
- Full support from a dedicated team of senior leaders and a large pastoral team
- A first class Behaviour for Learning system
- Excellent teaching resources
- Career progression and cross-trust working opportunities
- An excellent CPD package for all staff
- A range of staff benefits, including a Cycle to Work scheme, reduced cost health cover and childcare support
We also recognise that, as a teenager, growing up can be a difficult time; a time at which our students may require varying levels of support. We have invested heavily in our SEND team, which now includes the following positions:
- Learning Mentors
- Teaching Assistants
- Curriculum Tutors with subject specialisms
- ARC Co-ordinator
- SEND admin support
What are we looking for?
- an excellent teacher with an interest in the ASD provision
- a commitment to achieving excellent results for students
- a candidate with high expectations of themselves and others
You must be fully committed to optimising the opportunities that are available to children and young people, secure in the knowledge that you will be joining an ambitious, forward-thinking Academy Trust that sets the standards for our family of schools and academies.
Start date: September 2021
Closing date: 9am Monday 12th April 2021
