We are looking for a skilful and enthusiastic class teacher to join our dedicated staff team after Easter or in September 2021.
At Ashmead, our vision for children is that they leave us feeling both ‘loveable and capable’. We want children to be passionate, resilient learners with good character who achieve well across the curriculum. If you would like to help us realise this vision, we’d love to meet you!
This is a full-time post, permanent/fixed term (negotiable).
NQTs are welcome to apply for this role; Ashmead offer a strong NQT support programme.
The successful candidate will need to:
o Be a skilful teacher, committed to the highest of expectations for all children.
o Understand what makes effective learning.
o Be a learner themselves – open to challenge and the exploration of new approaches.
o Be a committed team member, show initiative and proactively work to improve their practice.
o Promote the principles of inclusion by enabling every child to overcome barriers to learning in order to achieve.
o Have very high expectations of behaviour and be committed to establishing positive relationships with every child.
We offer:
o A gorgeous school environment with great facilities, e.g. your own MacBook, new IWBs and computers, air conditioned classrooms and a treehouse!
o A brilliant, supportive and dedicated staff team.
o A school that prioritises minimising your workload, e.g. through focusing on oral feedback more than written marking.
o Children who are enthusiastic learners with very supportive families.
o A school that is committed to helping staff develop, e.g. through in-house coaching and excellent CPD.
o A school that is passionate about learning, where practice is based on recent and reliable research.
We are committed to safer recruitment and the protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment is subject to satisfactory enhanced DBS, reference checks and proof of the right to work in the UK. We are committed to promoting equality and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
We strongly encourage potential candidates to arrange a phone call with the head teacher or deputy head teacher. Please phone on 0208 692 6081 (8am-4pm Mon-Fri) or email Sean O’Flynn (headteacher@ashmead.lewisham.sch.uk)
