Assessment Development Manager

Contract: Full time, Permanent, 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Salary Range:   Grade 9: SCP 32–35 (£34788 - £37849)

Start Date: February 2020

Do you believe that all students deserve an excellent education?  One that affords them the opportunity to grow as successful, purposeful young people who can achieve their aspirations and dreams?  Do you understand that each student’s journey to achieve this is unique, as are the challenges they face along the way?  Do you share our belief that, in order to fulfil their potential, everyone who has a stake in the education of our children need the right data, in the right format, at the right time, to ensure we can all truly support them in their endeavours to become the best versions of themselves?

If this aligns with your vision of the impact effective data management and leadership can have in a school, we have an amazing opportunity for you.

Penistone Grammar School is looking to recruit an Assessment Development Manager who shares our vision and can inspire and support our young people to achieve more than they believe is possible. As a school, we pride ourselves on our consistently high standards, both in terms of learning and in terms of behaviour.  We have a commitment to the success of all students, academically and pastorally and expect all our staff to share this commitment.

Leading the Data and Exams Team and as a key leader within the Associate Staff team, you will be instrumental in supporting excellent outcomes for our students by developing and managing the use of data and assessment at Penistone Grammar School. Reporting directly to the Vice Principal and working closely with all members of the Senior Leadership Team, this role is critical in supporting delivery of school development priorities which will enable PGS to build on its strong reputation and establish itself as a beacon of excellent practice.

In addition, you will work alongside the Executive Director, taking responsibility for the writing of the school’s timetable in line with pre-determined curriculum plans, as well as undertaking routine timetable maintenance throughout the academic year.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience of working within a similar role within a school context

• Excellent communication skills

• Excellent working knowledge of SIMS or similar MIS packages and NOVA T6

• Experience of writing timetables

• Ability to deliver results accurately, to a high standard and under pressure

• Previous line management experience

• A minimum of 5 GCSE grades A* to C (including Maths and English) and a Level 4 qualification relevant to the role

If you have the passion, energy and enthusiasm to be a key part of our support services team, then we need to hear from you.

Our school is ‘Good’ poised to be ‘Outstanding’ very soon.  We are a vibrant, oversubscribed 11 to 18 comprehensive school with excellent GCSE results across all subjects; we are recognised as one of the highest performing schools in the region in terms of Key Stage 4 outcomes.  Our A level results and destinations are equally impressive, with the school placed in the top 10% for performance (according to ALPS) and over 95% of all students gaining entrance to their university or apprenticeship of choice.

Penistone Grammar School is committed to professional development for all staff, regardless of role.  We have an innovative staff development programme which truly empowers staff to take control of their own professional development through a supportive peer-coaching model.  For those striving for career development, we run middle and senior leadership development programmes. Regardless of what point you are at in your career and whatever your aspirations may be, Penistone Grammar School can support you to achieve them.  As a school, the wellbeing of our staff is incredibly important to us and is placed at the centre of all we do.  Through our Staff Wellbeing Programme we ensure staff benefit from all that our supportive school community has to offer, empowering everyone to deliver nothing short of the best for the young people they serve.

If you are looking for an opportunity to work in a school where our values are at the heart of all we do, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
