What it’s about

We have a vacancy at Assessment Manager/Senior Assessment Manager level in the Admissions Testing test development and production unit. The successful applicant will be responsible for the development and production of the Thinking Skills content of our range of admissions tests, with a particular emphasis on Problem Solving. This is an excellent opportunity for a person with an interest in assessment and experience of teaching a subject with a significant quantitative element.

What you’ll be doing

In this interesting and varied role, you will take responsibility for managing the development and production of the Problem Solving components of question papers and online tests. This will include managing item writer teams, and organising the editing, proofreading and pretesting of items. You will also work with external consultants to ensure the accurate marking of candidate responses, participate in the grading of assessments, and be responsible for the production of materials to support candidates and teachers. A good standard of English, the ability to communicate well both in writing and verbally, and a keen eye for detail are essential requirements.

What we’re looking for

You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent), have a teaching qualification, and preferably hold a higher degree in a relevant area of study. Experience of teaching, preparing students for examinations, or working as an examiner would be an advantage.

You will be adaptable, a quick learner, and feel comfortable with data and technology. In addition, you will have the ability to work well both in a team and independently and be keen to work in a busy office environment. Experience of meeting deadlines across multiple activities and excellent attention to detail are essential.

Who we are

Admissions Testing is part of Cambridge Assessment, a department of the University of Cambridge. We provide admissions tests for a range of subjects in Higher Education institutions in the UK and overseas, including the Biomedical Admissions Test (BMAT), the International Medical Admissions Test (IMAT), the Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA), Sixth Term Examination Paper in Mathematics (STEP) and the Cambridge Personal Styles Questionnaire (CPSQ).

This role can be classed as a secondment opportunity for internal candidates with approval from your line manager.
