We are seeking to appoint a talented Assessor for our Health and Social Care and CACHE courses. The post holder will plan and carry out assessments against nationally recognised standards, supporting students to successfully complete their course and reach their potential.

The successful candidate will hold an appropriate assessor’s qualification as well as a minimum of Level 3 in Early Years/CACHE or a related subject. As the role involves travelling to a variety of locations to make student/employer visits, a full driving licence is required.

In return, we can offer:

  • An outstanding place to work (the college is regularly near the top of UK Sixth Form College results tables).
  • An excellent remuneration and reward package for outstanding employees.
  • Opportunities for career progression and development.
  • Involvement in a number of exciting new projects (eg, Teaching School, Free School).
  • A dynamic, driven and supportive culture for staff and students.
  • Excellent benefits (such as an on-site, staff only gym).

New College is easy to get to, linked closely to the main motorway network by the M62 and M1 and commutable from Leeds, Wakefield, Sheffield and much of the North of England. Pontefract is famous for liquorice and our beautiful racecourse – situated near to the college, but it offers a great blend of countryside and community – with the major conurbations of Leeds and Sheffield and their nightlife, culture and shopping very easily accessible.

The College is currently in the process of setting up a multi-academy trust so there may be the opportunity or need for travelling between multiple sites on occasion.

If you believe that you have the skills and abilities to take on this role, we’d love to hear from you.

New College Pontefract is an outstanding college, regularly near the top of the UK Sixth Form College results tables and awarded outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in 2014.   Our A Level and BTEC Value Added places us in the top 10% of providers nationally and the large majority of our Advanced Level students proceed to higher education at over 60 different universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. We also provide a small range of Level 2 provision for students wanting to improve their results at that level.

Over the last few years we have invested heavily in new, state-of-the-art teaching blocks and student facilities .  We provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including sports and college production; we want New College to be a vibrant community that students and staff will be keen to join.

The college is outward facing and believes strongly in collaboration, being the lead partner in our teaching school, collaborating with over 30 schools and colleges.  The teaching school creates opportunities for staff to  access a range of CPD, to deliver on CPD events and to support colleagues and departments in other schools/colleges.

Whilst we are unapologetically driven to achieve the best possible outcomes for students, we also operate a very supportive environment in which we give every member of the team the help they need to flourish as an outstanding member of staff.  Having been awarded Leaders in Diversity and Investors in People Gold status, we have been recognised for our ongoing dedication to our people management practices, investing in the development and performance of our staff and creating an inclusive environment in which diversity is celebrated.

As an employer, we strongly believe in recognising and rewarding outstanding performance in all our staff and have an excellent reward and recognition scheme in place which includes financial bonuses and lieu days.

There is a warm and friendly atmosphere that exists throughout the college making it an exciting and enjoyable place to study and work.  We have lots of great benefits to offer staff and we always have plenty going on, whether it be our annual Well-being Day, Christmas party , coffee mornings or social gatherings.

Why not consider joining an outstanding team!
