Kingsbury High is a large, split site, successful, over-subscribed 11-18, mixed, multi-ethnic school. We are located in an attractive suburban location surrounded by parkland with excellent transport links to enable easy access from central London and fringe areas.
This is an exciting time to join our in-house Catering Team with the provision about to be expanded for the coming academic year. This will be is a great opportunity to work with a highly experienced Catering Manager to take this project forward. The busy kitchen is at the heart of daily school life and every day produces over 2000 healthy, nutritious meals for students, staff and visitors in three registered outlets, across two sites, also catering for special events throughout the academic year.
We are now looking to recruit a skilled Assistant Catering Manager (Sous Chef) who will have responsibility for cooking the main meals of the day, supported by a team of Chef de Parties and Kitchen Assistants, and will also assist the Catering Manager in management of the kitchens.
You must be: able to deliver a quality chef service in a high volume, pressured, professional school kitchen environment with fixed service times; committed to delivering first class customer service; an excellent team player and; able to effectively delegate to and supervise staff. You should always be looking for how you can improve the service you offer, have an awareness of the school food regulations and must be comfortable dealing with kitchen administration.
What experience do I need?
- Have an NVQ in Catering or equivalent experience
- Have excellent communication skills
- Have knowledge of and be able to provide good, healthy and nutritious food
- Have the ability to work efficiently and quickly
- Enjoy being part of a team
- Have the ability to lead a team
- Have high standards of personal hygiene
- Be open to development opportunities in providing an excellent service to the school
- Have the ability to communicate fluently, in accurate spoken and written English
The appointee will be required to complete a six-month period of probation.
