Established in 1933, Flixton Girls School (FGS) is a secondary academy for girls aged 11-18, located in Flixton, Greater Manchester. With around 800 pupils on roll, making it smaller-than-average for a secondary school of its type, the school converted to an academy in 2011. FGS's sixth form was opened in 2013, and currently resides in its own dedicated sixth form centre. Although the majority of teaching takes place on-site, the school does make some use of external providers for students with particular educational or academic needs. This includes a number of sixth form students who attend courses run in partnership with a local college. FGS is the lead school for the Healthy Learning Trust, a Multi Academy Trust empowering young people to enhance their own lives and the lives of others.

“The school uses its founding principles of ‘aspiration, empowerment, excellence’ to promote students’ personal development very effectively. Their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding. Most teaching is at least good, and an increasing amount is outstanding.”
