Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and inspirational Assistant Curriculum Leader for Business, focussing on leading the subject alongside the Curriculum Leader within the Computing, IT and Business department. You will instil a love of the subject into our students and a desire to succeed in Business.

We are looking for someone who is a role model for other staff, demonstrating professionalism, flexibility, initiative, collaborations and high expectations that are expected of all leaders at Churchill Community College. The successful candidate will be expected to support the Curriculum Leader with developing the Business Studies curriculum further and building on the excellent practice that already exists within the department.

You would be joining a lively, hard-working and enthusiastic department made up of staff who are completely dedicated to ensuring students make the best progress possible. We have a solid belief in the importance of Business Studies, IT and Computer Science, and in developing the transferable skills students will need in today’s ever-changing world. As a department, we are calm classroom practitioners who value the use of humour and treating students as individuals in order to create a purposeful environment in which students feel safe and secure and can achieve their full potential. During our last Ofsted inspection students spoke positively about the department.

Business is a very popular option choice at the school, with good numbers in Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. It is likely the successful candidate would also teach some of our Key Stage 3 curriculum, which is a blend of Computer Science, IT and Business Studies. The department works hard together in subject specific CPD to train for this.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our school and work alongside an incredible group of staff and a highly supportive governing body who will always go the extra mile for our students.

A completed application form, criminal records declaration form and equalities monitoring form must be submitted by 9am on Monday 17th April to: heather.bell@churchillcc.org. Please note that we do not accept CVs. The interviews will take place on Friday 21st April 2023.

Please contact Stephanie Lagay, Curriculum Leader, at stephanie.lagay@churchillcc.org if you have any queries about the post.

Churchill Community College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As such an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant employment checks deemed appropriate.

Churchill Community College is an 11-18yrs comprehensive school in North Tyneside.

Churchill is very much a community school, and whilst the community we serve is enormously proud and supportive of the school, a significant proportion of our students come from low income or deprived households, with more than 40% of our cohort eligible for the Pupil Premium.

We aim to make all our young people feel completely safe, secure, valued and appreciative of the many opportunities their education here can afford them.

We set high standards in all areas and expect the very best from all members of our learning community. In return, we aim to provide excellent teaching and up-to-date curriculum provision with high quality pastoral care and an outstanding range of opportunities beyond the classroom for all learners. We believe these are the hallmarks of a truly successful school.
