Job overview

We wish to appoint an Assistant Curriculum Leader with drive, energy and enthusiasm who is keen to join the successful and friendly Performing Arts Team at The Buckingham School, which has seen many students go on to Performing Arts colleges, schools and workplaces.

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding practitioner to join this popular and successful school. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and well-qualified individual to work with an experienced Curriculum Leader and a successful and forward-looking Performing Arts Team. The ideal candidate for the post would be able to teach KS3 and KS4 Music. We currently offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities, as well as Level 2 BTEC courses.

This opportunity will focus on driving the development of an exciting curriculum for Music within the Performing Arts Curriculum, ensuring that all students enjoy Music and make excellent progress. Our curriculum has recently been redesigned to support the school’s Vision and Virtues in creating students who succeed both academically and creatively.

The school produces a whole-school musical once a year, which involves students from all year groups, and several smaller performances showcasing our Performing Arts students. An area that we are particularly proud of is having performances and extra-curricular activities that are enhanced by the student ambassadors in the department. This is something that we are keen to celebrate and build further. We are also members of the Buckinghamshire Music Trust and have the facilities to host a range of peripatetic teachers.

In return, we will offer you:

  • A professional and supportive team
  • A personalised approach to professional development
  • A role in a school that has a clear vision
  • Students with a positive attitude and a willingness to succeed
  • A supportive and inclusive staff environment

Values and Vision

Learning and progress are vital to our values. We promote a vibrant, exciting learning environment for everyone, encompassing flexible skill development, technological capability, skilful communication, and entrepreneurship, as well as providing breadth of knowledge, creativity, and sporting opportunities, both within and beyond the classroom, for all learners.

Ofsted report

“Sixth-form learners’ achievement has improved because teaching is better in practically all subjects. Learners are very good role models for younger pupils and contribute much to school life. Pastoral care, especially in Year 7 and for those who have special educational needs or disability, is very supportive. Practically all pupils enjoy school and behave well. They all feel safe. The school prepares pupils very well for their future health and safety. Career advice is good. Pupils successfully learn about spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues blended with an understanding of citizenship and British values. In many lessons, pupils work extremely hard and are totally absorbed by high-quality and challenging teaching.”
