Job overview

We are now welcoming applications for an Assistant Director of Estates to join the IT, Estates and Health & Safety department. You will be responsible for the management and delivery of the College’s capital investment programme from business case to project completion, which includes capital funded projects to expand and provide high quality teaching, learning and working environments. 

You will be responsible for the management of Estates team and delivery of the maintenance contracts, utility services and will take the lead in ensuring that all buildings conform to statutory compliance legislation. You will be acting as the Soft Landings champion and lead on CDM on all college Estate projects.

You will contribute to production of all policies and procedures in relation to Estates, Health & Safety, welfare and advise managers and staff on development and maintenance of a healthy and safe environment. You will lead on the implementation of Estates projects and act as the College’s client lead ensuring that the specification and the actual work on site delivers the original vision, considers teaching and learning requirements and meets all necessary standards. You will ensure that all capital work carried out on behalf of the College complies in full, with statutory legislation including being fully compliant with Health and Safety Legislation, Local Planning requirements and Building Control Regulations.

You will have experience in managing a portfolio of construction and revenue projects including developing and delivering a programme management function to ensure outputs and outcomes are delivered to agreed timescales and budgets. You will have experience in managing projects and deliver programmes of construction improvements. Extensive experience and knowledge of CDM regulation 2015 is essential and you will have thorough working knowledge of legislation and good practice relating to the operation and management of buildings, building services, facilities, project management and the workplace in general.

A degree level qualification in relevant field. e.g. Commercial Management / Project Management/ Real Estate, or equivalent generalist/technical qualification or experience is essential as well as a Management Qualification or a willingness to work towards is essential. A CDM qualification is also essential.
