Job overview

A well-qualified, enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational Assistant Director of Mathematics is required to join a thriving and highly successful curriculum area which has made a major contribution to the recent transformation of the academy.

Examination results in 2015 positioned us as the most improved school in the Leeds area, with a 20% increase in performance, at a time when many other schools saw a ‘dip’ in their performance. In 2016 we have seen that performance increase with our students making incredibly strong rates of progress and placing us within the top 10 performing schools in Leeds and top 40% of schools in the country.

From September 2015 the school has become part of the GORSE Academies Trust which is led by Sir John Townsley. The Trust is a vibrant and forward thinking teaching community which places all students, and in particular those who come from the most challenging backgrounds, at the centre of its work. The Trust has two outstanding secondary schools, The Morley Academy and The Farnley Academy, an 11-16 Free School - The Ruth Gorse Academy, and the largest Post-16 Free School in the country, Elliott Hudson College. Hillcrest Academy, Ryecroft Academy and Morley Newlands Academy are the primary schools within the Trust. The Trust also includes two Teaching Schools, providing leadership development and initial teacher training and the opportunity to be involved in innovative and exciting teaching and learning opportunities.

The successful candidate will benefit from a comprehensive Induction Programme.
