This is an extremely exciting time to be joining Leeds City Academy, one of the most rapidly improving schools within the Leeds area and county of West Yorkshire. We are an 11-16 academy and one of four schools within White Rose Academies Trust, a trust recognised nationally for its ground-breaking and transformational impact on the lives of the young people it serves. Role:

This exciting role provides the opportunity for a committed and ambitious teacher to develop their practice, knowledge, and skills through working within a strong and committed team of highly skilled teachers, lead practitioners and leaders. 

The successful candidate will contribute to leading the development of Maths in the curriculum at Leeds City Academy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting the academic success and personal development of all students within the Maths curriculum, both in lessons and through extracurricular provision, ensuring a smooth learning journey from 11-16 and beyond.
  • Lead and collaborate in the design, development and implementation of an exceptional forward-thinking, and dynamic Maths curriculum that engages students and promotes a love for the subject.
  • Cultivate and embed versatile skills, critical thinking, and a growth mindset I both students and staff, preparing them to thrive in a fast-evolving world and fostering a lifeline love of learning.
  • Support the professional development of the Maths team, ensuring access to high quality training, mentoring and resources that enhance teaching effectiveness and inspire continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the Director of Maths to set strategic goals for the Maths department, ensuring alignment with school wide priorities and the successful implementation of the department’s visions.
  • Collaborate with other departments and senior leadership to ensure cross-curricular opportunities for students, promoting an integrated approach to learning.
  • Utilise student performance data to inform teaching strategies, interventions, and departmental planning, ensuring that all students achieve their potential.
  • Ensure that the Maths curriculum and teaching strategies are inclusive, offering appropriate challenges and support for all students, including those with diverse leading needs.
