Rugby School aims to be recognised as the top non-specialist music school in the United Kingdom.
The Assistant Director of Music (ADoM) is a new full-time position. The successful applicant will be an exceptional musician and a university/music college graduate, with a qualification as an orchestral conductor and a proven track record in the delivery of high quality musical coaching and as a conductor of youth orchestras.
The ADoM will lead the programme of instrumental music at the School and in that capacity, will set targets and aspirations for instrumental musicians, developing appropriate opportunities for all. The ADoM will advise on the development of instrumental facilities, will actively work to recruit excellent instrumental students and teachers to the school and will build partnerships with both outside and internal agencies. The ADoM will inspire others to achieve excellence through learning, practising, performing, reviewing and reflecting.
The School is a boarding and day school in full operation seven days per week including evenings during term time. Pastoral, co-curricular, cultural and sports activities take place outside normal day-school hours, and candidates will be expected to contribute fully to these activities. The Rugby salary scale is a generous one and accommodation is offered.
