This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced PE Teacher to play a key role in a highly successful Sports Department and support the leadership and management of PE at Streatham & Clapham High School, which was recently ranked the top 10% of independent schools in Sport.

You will assist the Director of Sport in the leadership and management of the department to ensure a wide range of sporting opportunities for sportswomen of all abilities. You will also be expected to make an appropriate contribution to the co-curricular life of the Sports Department, for instance training sessions before school; fixtures/competitions, training sessions, and other events after school; some Saturday events, including fixtures/competitions and training sessions; and occasional weekend events.

If you have excellent leadership skills with experience of teaching PE at KS3, GCSE and A Level for at least two cycles we should be delighted to hear from you.

The Department

The Sports Department at Streatham & Clapham High School benefits from superb facilities, including a full-size sports hall, all-weather surface, sports pitches, and tennis courts. The school also has access to local swimming pools.

The Department has a busy programme of clubs, fixtures, competitions, trips to premier sporting events, and overseas hockey and netball tours. Core sports include hockey, netball, athletics, cricket, rowing and gymnastics; but a wide range of other sports is offered, including badminton, cross-country running, rounders, tennis, football, volleyball, and karate. Dance and fitness training is also offered.

SCHS is abuzz with activity.  Pupils regularly put on ambitious drama productions.  The school has four choirs, a full orchestra and a variety of chamber-music groups.  Its pupils participate in a legion of sporting activities, in which they achieve great success.  SCHS’s Gymnastics teams, for instance, were the best in England in the 2012 National Gymnastics Competition.  However, pupils attain success across the spectrum of activity, from achieving outstanding results in public-speaking competitions, to winning prizes for the crash-testing of vehicles at Imperial College; from gaining awards for eco-action and sustainability, to trekking across the Atlas Mountains in Morocco or to the base camp of Mount Everest.
