Job overview

WSCC is currently recruiting for an Assistant Director, School Effectiveness to join our Education and Skills Directorate and lead our school effectiveness strategy to ensure that all of our children and young people get the best possible start in life.

As part of the senior leadership team, the Assistant Director for School Effectiveness plays a pivotal role in leading the schools effectiveness team whilst working collaboratively with a range of partner organisations, including managing our relationship with Ofsted.  The post-holder will lead on raising the standard of education provision in West Sussex, from individual school performance, to driving the development of an inclusion culture in accordance with our SEND & Inclusion Strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity for an education professional with proven strategic leadership skills to join us and lead the way in transforming our schools effectiveness service.  We are looking for someone who can engage collaboratively with a range of external stakeholders, and work effectively with senior colleagues within the leadership team.  You will be comfortable to drive the commercial aspect of the service and build credible relationships with School Leaders, as well as inspire confidence in your team around you to take the service forward.  A good working knowledge of current school inspection process and methodology would be an advantage; you will be a strategic and innovative thinker who will help steer the modernisation of the Council’s school leadership and improvement services to meet the changing needs and priorities of the future.

For an informal discussion or for further information relating to the role, please contact Kayleigh Bateman (Resourcing Adviser – Education & Skills) at kayleigh.bateman@westsussex.gov.uk

Closing date: 13th October 2019
Interview date: week commencing 21/10/19
