Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Grounds Person to work across an enviable number of playing fields and fantastic sporting facilities, covering some 65 acres, at one of the leading boarding schools in the UK. 

As the Assistant Grounds Manager, you will be joining a busy, close-knit Grounds Team where you will play a key role in the maintenance of all sports/grounds and facilities across the 120-acre estate. 

Your remit will include: 

• Extensive involvement in cricket surface provision and management;

• Maintaining and improving the School’s sports grounds, including multiple natural and artificial playing surfaces;

• Supporting the Grounds Manager to lead the team of grounds employees.

Significant knowledge and experience of cricket surface provision and management is essential, with considerable grounds maintenance experience. 

The ability to remain calm in a busy and demanding environment, excellent communication skills, strong leadership skills and a flexible attitude to working hours are all essential. A driving licence for towing trailers will be advantageous.
