Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on an important leadership role in a thriving co-educational independent day school on the outskirts of Bristol. We are looking for a dynamic and highly capable leader to join our talented senior management team to lead all aspects of the school’s curriculum.

We are proud of our high academic standards and our innovative approach to the development of teaching and learning across the school but we also value the range of opportunities we provide for our pupils outside the classroom too.  The school have ambitious plans for future developments; with increasing pupil numbers and excellent value added scores, you will be joining the school at a very exciting time.

We want to appoint a dynamic and enterprising colleague who will continue to push the academic achievements of all our pupils as they strive to be the best version of themselves that they can be.

This post could suit an existing senior leader or a colleague looking to take on more responsibility and challenge but our new colleague will certainly need ambition, determination and, no doubt, a sense of humour. The successful candidate will have a track record of delivering exceptional academic standards; certainly of their own and perhaps already of others. They will want to lead the development of academic initiatives. They will help shape the school’s academic development strategy and lead on key development priorities. An eye for detail and data literacy will be essential. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of curriculum design; the effective use of performance data; the management of examinations as well as key aspects of parental communications. They will be supported by a highly effective team, including the examinations officer, data manager and academic coordinator.

Colston’s occupies a stunning thirty acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site. We are easily accessible from the motorway network and provide an outstanding holistic education for students aged from 11 to 18. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and other benefits including free school lunches during term time, free on-site parking and use of the school’s gym facilities. The school also offers a discount on school fees for staff at the school.

A willingness to contribute to the extracurricular life of this holistic school will be advantageous. Applicants are requested to make clear with the supporting statement of their application their co-curricular interests and additional hobbies or experiences that would enhance the experience they bring to the school.
