A leadership opportunity to become Deputy Vice Principal with responsibility for English and Whole School Literacy.

The Bishop of Winchester Academy is an oversubscribed and thriving Church of England School situated in a beautiful seaside resort with seven miles of award winning golden sands on our doorstep, on the edge of the Jurassic coast with excellent transport links to London and the rest of the UK. 

This post is an opportunity to play a crucial role in ensuring that The Bishop of Winchester Academy becomes an outstanding school. The Deputy Vice Principal will be responsible to the Principal and will work alongside ALT in defining, articulating and implementing the shared vision and values of the school through effective communication and engagement with all stakeholders. It is expected that the Deputy Vice Principal will demonstrate outstanding leadership skills working under the direction of the Principal on the implementation of the strategic aims of the school.  They will work with individuals and groups to ensure the provision of a high quality education for all our students. 

The successful candidate will be joining an academy where all academy staff are driven by the mantra “high expectations - no excuses” and are determined, committed and focused on inspiring students to succeed. The academy offers free onsite parking, a brand new building with 21st century facilities where there are opportunities for internal progression at any stage of career and excellent professional development including a robust performance management policy to support all development.

The Bishop of Winchester Academy, based in Bournemouth, Dorset, is a Church of England secondary school that prides itself on its curriculum, governance and outstanding student behaviour. Students aged 11-18 experience teaching in new state-of-the-art buildings and have first-class resources at their fingertips. The school operates in an area where there are schools that select for entry on grounds of ability.

The mixed secondary school was opened in September 2010 as a sponsor-led academy. In September 2014, the Bishop of Winchester Academy extended its educational opportunities by opening its own sixth form.
