Situated in the leafy Chilterns and within easy reach of Central London, Highcrest is culturally and academically diverse and is the only academy in Buckinghamshire that caters for students of ‘all abilities’. Some of our students need all your support, whilst others need to be challenged and stretched. Our inclusive and successful House system, a wide range of clubs, visits and trips helps to bring our whole school community together.

There are approximately 1000 students on roll, including the Sixth Form. Recent additions to our site include a gym and restaurant/coffee shop for both staff and students, as well as a purpose-built Sixth Form Centre.

The Role

You will support the Head of Learning in delivering exceptional pastoral support.  Working in a busy environment, no two days will be the same and problem solving skills are essential. You will be able to understand children across the board (from those with learning difficulties to the most able) and know how to support both.  This will be achieved through combinations of the following:

• Mentoring/coaching of pupils

• Management of pupil progress and assessment

• Management of pupils’ behaviour

• Management of resources

• Management of external liaison

• Co-ordination and delivery of interventions

Experience of working with secondary school age children would be an advantage, as would an interest in psychology and mental health.

How to Apply

If you are team player, passionate about education and social mobility and want to be a pivotal part of improving opportunities for the students of our local community and increasing their learning experiences, then The Highcrest Academy is the school for you.  Please apply by completing an application form, available on our website.

Closing date: 8am on Wednesday 25 May 2022.

Please note we will be reviewing applications and arranging interviews on an ongoing basis therefore, early applications are encouraged.

A DBS check will be required for this role.

The Highcrest Academy is a vibrant, happy school in which every student is given the opportunity to develop their talents and to flourish as individuals. We are relentless in our pursuit of building a cohesive culture and curriculum that matches the varied needs of our students.

Our motto, ‘Aspire and Achieve’ is central to our philosophy. We are committed to making sure that every student makes outstanding progress and succeeds both academically and in terms of their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Indeed, we value a strong work ethic and aim to develop, sometimes hidden or unsuspected talent, into fruition.

At Highcrest, we are committed to setting high expectations for the conduct of our pupils and believe it is crucial for there to be an established culture in which all are able to excel. We want all the children who come to the academy to enjoy their learning and to become thoughtful, articulate, confident and responsible members of society.

Our personalised curriculum is enhanced by numerous extra-curricular opportunities, community and business projects, national and international competitions and a thriving House System. This encourages staff and students of all ages to work together.

The Highcrest Academy is the only all-ability academy in Buckinghamshire and is a culturally diverse, over-subscribed school, making it a fantastic place to teach. There are approximately 1000 students on roll, including Sixth Form. We know from pupil surveys that students are proud of our school and, when parents have been surveyed, the level of parent satisfaction has also been exceptionally high.

We are very aware that The Highcrest Academy is part of a community and we work hard to instil a sense of local and global responsibility. This means that students take part in many activities which enhance the local community, and have a real understanding of their role in improving the work community.

Our mission is to create a positive, secure and happy learning environment where all students experience success, friendship, respect and self-worth; where students value and celebrate the diverse talents and cultural heritage of all, and achieve their full potential in becoming responsible citizens, respecting the rights of other and contributing to our society.
